Lady Monarch Golfers Receive NCAA APR Public Recognition Award

The Old Dominion women’s golf team was recognized this month as an NCAA Public Recognition Award recipient, signifying it as one of the top academically performing teams in the nation. The team earned a perfect Academic Progress Rate score of 1,000, which is based on the academic and retention rates for the 2007-08, 2008-09, 2009-10 and 2010-11 academic years.

“It’s a great honor for our women’s golf team to be recognized for the second straight year by the NCAA as being among the top 10 percent of all Division I women’s golf programs for APR performance,” said Athletic Director Wood Selig. “I congratulate head coach Carol Robertson and our women golfers for their outstanding performances in the classroom and for the high priority they have placed on academic success.”

The ODU women’s golf team also earned the distinction of having the highest cumulative grade point average among all of ODU’s 18 intercollegiate sports this year, with a 3.4 average for both the fall and spring semesters.
