ODU Concert Choir and Diehn Chorale to Give Veterans Day Concerts

The 70-voice Old Dominion University Concert Choir and Diehn Chorale, directed by Nancy Klein, will present a Veterans Day concert, "Images of America," on campus and in Virginia Beach this month.

The campus performance will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, in the atrium of the Diehn Center for the Performing Arts. The Virginia Beach concert will take place at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, at Kempsville Presbyterian Church, 805 Kempsville Road.

The program consists of the music of the people who built our nation, and includes spirituals, revivalist songs, folk songs and patriotic music. At the ODU concert, the vocalists and instrumentalists will be joined by Symphonic Artistry Wind Ensemble for combined performances of "Hymn to the Fallen" from the movie "Saving Private Ryan" and the stirring "Battle Hymn of the Republic."

Vocalists at the Virginia Beach concert will be joined by the ensemble and the KPC Chancel Choir and Orchestra for combined performances of these numbers.

Both concerts are free and open to the public. Audience members who are veterans will be acknowledged and honored.
