Top Story Memorial Service for Former President Al Rollins Set for March 8 A memorial service for Alfred B. Rollins Jr., Old Dominion's third president, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, March 8, in Webb Center. The service, for family, friends and the ODU community, will celebrate the life and legacy of Rollins, who died Feb. 20, 2013, in Norfolk. A reception will follow the service. A historian who served as president from 1976-85, Rollins directed Old Dominion through its transition from a regional college to a major research university, skillfully bringing about major growth in state and private funding, facilitating racial integration, expanding student services, establishing an honors program and a broader graduate education mission, and putting new focus on women's athletics.
