Open Enrollment Period for Health Insurance, FRA Benefit Selections Begins May 1
The Department of Human Resources sent the following "Dear Colleagues" letter to ODU employees via email on Tuesday. It includes important information about benefits changes.
Open Enrollment is the time to make decisions about your Health Insurance and Flexible Reimbursement Accounts (FRAs) for the upcoming fiscal year. The Open Enrollment period to make your benefit selections is May 1 - May 24.
There are important changes to the Commonwealth's Heath Benefits options and fee structure that will go into effect on July 1, 2013. The new program is intended to promote wellness and reward employees for taking proactive measures towards a healthier lifestyle.
Last night the Commonwealth's Department of Human Resource Management (DHRM) sent an email with the subject 2013 Health Benefits Open Enrollment. It is important that you read this email and visit the link to the Spotlight on Benefits newsletter. This newsletter has specific information on the upcoming changes and tools to help you make an informed decision. DHRM is also sending this newsletter to your homes.

Open Enrollment changes will be submitted online again this year using EmployeeDirect. EmployeeDirect is quick, easy, and available 24 hours a day from any computer with Internet access. EmployeeDirect eliminates the paper forms and automatically updates the Benefits Eligibility System.
In preparation for online Open Enrollment, employees should login to EmployeeDirect now, review their Health Benefits Profile, and make any necessary changes to personal information. You can access EmployeeDirect at https://edirect.virginia.gov. When you register, you will be asked to provide your Employee Number; this is the first seven numbers on your health insurance card. If you do not have your health insurance card, select Forgot Employee Number and follow the prompts.
