Jeff Jones Announces Additions of John Richardson and Lamar Barrett to Men's Basketball Staff
Old Dominion head men's basketball coach Jeff Jones recently announced that John Richardson and Lamar Barrett have been added to his coaching staff.
"I am very excited to have John Richardson rejoining the ODU men's basketball coaching staff. John has done a tremendous job here and has an outstanding reputation in the coaching ranks. He is certainly well known for his recruiting prowess, specifically in the state of Virginia and the Hampton Roads area," Jones said.
"John as well as the other assistant coaches from this past year have done an admirable job in trying to hold things together in what was a difficult situation, but I think that shows their professionalism to provide the leadership for the program to move forward. John will be invaluable to me, in terms of being a resource on how things work at ODU and I look forward to working with him."
Jones added: "Lamar has worked for me the last three years as an assistant at American and has done a tremendous job. His experiences are varied and I think he will be a great mentor for the student-athletes on our team and a tremendous ambassador for Old Dominion University basketball.
"His diverse experiences include contacts in a wide range of geographic areas, but especially in the Washington, D.C., area where, in addition to working at AU, Lamar worked as a high school coach for a number of years. As people will find out, Lamar is an extremely positive person who brings a lot of positive energy to the job and will have an excellent rapport with the young men on the basketball team."
