Faculty, Administrators Honored at Annual Dinner

Old Dominion honored a number of faculty members and administrators at the Faculty Awards and Retirement Dinner the evening of Tuesday, May 7 (see photos below).

In addition to the presentation of the A. Rufus Tonelson Faculty Award to Lawrence Hatab and the Faculty Research Achievement Award to Stacie Raymer, which were not announced until the dinner program, the university honored numerous other faculty members and administrators.

The following awards and recognitions were made during the program:

• Virginia Outstanding Faculty Award nominees: Gail Dodge, physics; Jennifer Fish, women's studies; John Ford, marketing and international business; John McManus, English; John Nunnery, The Center for Educational Partnerships; Michael Pearson, English; Zia Razzaq, civil and environmental engineering; Carolyn Rutledge, nursing; and Thomas Socha, communication and theatre arts

• Eminent Scholars: Dana Heller, English; Shaomin Li, management and international business; and Lawrence Weinstein, physics

• University Professor: Mark Havey, physics

• Teaching with Technology Award: Richard Landers, psychology; and Donna Rose, nursing

• Provost's Award for Leadership in International Education: Theodore Remley, counseling

• Provost's Award for Outstanding Undergraduate Research Faculty Mentor: Jesse Richman, political science and geography

• Doctoral Mentoring Award finalists: Simon Serfaty, international studies; Mohammad Najand, finance; Theodore Remley, counseling; Bonnie Van Lunen, physical therapy and athletic training; and Rocco Schiavilla, physics

• Doctoral Mentoring Award winner: Frederic "Rick" McKenzie, electrical and computer engineering

• Outstanding Graduate Teaching Assistant Awards: Nathapon "Max" Siangchokyoo, engineering management (classroom); and Rachel Callan, psychology (laboratory)

• New Advisor of the Year Award: Katherine "Katie" Ferrara, College of Health Sciences

• Advising Administrator of the Year Award: Daniela Cigularova, Virginia Beach Higher Education Center

• Faculty Advisor of the Year Award: Edwin Gomez, recreation and tourism studies

• Excellence in Advising in the Primary Role Award: Tammera "Tammey" Johnson, interdisciplinary studies - teacher preparation program

• J. Worth Pickering Administrator of the Year Award: Lisa Mayes, academic enhancement

• Association of University Administrators Monarch Professional Award: Meg Jones, urban studies and public administration
