ODU Names New Director of Transportation and Parking Services
Scott Silsdorf will join Old Dominion June 25 as director of transportation and parking services, Todd Johnson, assistant vice president for auxiliary services, announced this week.
A five-year veteran of the U.S. Navy, Silsdorf received a joint M.A. in transportation engineering and city and regional planning, with a specialization in transportation planning, from California Polytechnic State University. He is also a graduate of the University of Virginia's School of Architecture.
Silsdorf spent four years abroad studying international transportation and city planning, and working for the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force as an English instructor. For 10 years prior to his time abroad, he was the supervising transportation planner for Parsons Brinckerhoff, an international infrastructure design and consulting firm based in New York. Silsdorf worked as the project manager in both the Norfolk and Boston offices, overseeing major transportation planning projects for the mid-Atlantic and New England regions.
Silsdorf's ODU appointment follows a months-long search by a committee composed of staff members, administrators, faculty and students. Johnson complimented Sue Mitchell, director of Webb Center and auxiliary services, who chaired the committee, and the committee members for their work in conducting the search.
